The Challenge
Develop strategies within the education system to create safe and supportive environments for children that promote mental health and well-being. This should include initiatives to provide safe places and activities for children to hang out and meet with friends, both online and offline.
This approach emphasizes collaboration and ongoing evaluation to ensure that the needs of children are met and that they have access to supportive environments that foster their well-being.
The Approach
This proposal seeks to revolutionize education by emphasizing community-driven and interdisciplinary learning that encourages young people to explore their areas of curiosity. The goal is to better meet the needs of future generations and prepare them for a rapidly changing world. The approach is student-centered, and dynamic, and fosters creativity and critical thinking.
The Outcome
Positionality Statement
In the spirit of self-reflection, I acknowledge my position as an educated Indian woman. I have not contributed to the education field as a teacher or professor in any space; all of my research in the education space is motivated only by my desire to understand various learning styles and teaching approaches.
Thus, my research is based on my learning about the education system in Scotland and from speaking with people and is a mere intervention from that standpoint. As a student myself, my views of the education system are complicated, however, it doesn’t stop me from learning and developing skills in my own way.
I believe that education is a right that every child should have regardless of their social or economic status.
Research and Synthesis
"Advocating for Education Reform in Scotland: Prioritizing Holistic Development and Diversity"
Based on my research, my aim for this project is to highlight the need for reform in the Scottish education system. I will highlight the neglect of important aspects of a child's development and the low-quality education in deprived areas. I aim to explore new techniques and methods to prioritize holistic development and diversity in learning. This project seeks to contribute to the ongoing conversation on education reform and inspire positive changes in the Scottish education system.

Engagement Tool
I conducted a co-design workshop to explore an alternative approach to education and gather feedback from parents, teachers, and stakeholders. The workshop was designed to be collaborative and interactive, consisting of an icebreaker activity, brainstorming, group discussion, and reflection. Participants shared a variety of ideas, emphasizing the importance of personalized learning, a flexible curriculum, collaboration, and inclusivity. The feedback and ideas generated from the workshop will inform future initiatives related to alternative approaches to education. The workshop was successful in creating a collaborative and interactive space, providing valuable insights into what an ideal school could look like.

Mapping common themes in the ecosystem
Through the use of thematic maps, I was able to identify common themes and connections that emerged during my research and interviews related to education. One important insight I gained was the significant influence that communities have on a child's learning. By learning from a variety of people, students are exposed to a wider range of perspectives and experiences, which can enhance their learning outcomes.
Community- led Education System
A community vision team will be formed to increase student involvement and connection. Volunteers from businesses and organizations will teach future skills, which will be gradually integrated into the curriculum. This will be a collaborative effort to promote eco-friendliness in schools.
